# Send training emails from your domain

> Send training and notification emails from an address on your own domain instead of Cimento's no-reply address.

Training and notification emails come from `no-reply@cimento.ai` by default. You can send them from an address on your own domain instead, such as `training@yourcompany.com`, so employees see a sender they recognize. The emails carry your logo and colors from Branding Hub.

The setting is **Send training and notification emails from your domain**, at the bottom of the **Sending domains** card under **Admin → Organization → Branding**. It appears once one of your domains is ready for training emails. If you don't see it, ask your Cimento contact to turn it on for your organization.

## Before you begin

* **Admin access.** Only admins can add domains and change the sender.
* **Your branding.** Under **Admin → Organization → Branding**, set a default logo, a default background color and a default accent color. Until all three are set, the switch stays off and lists what's missing.
* **Someone who can edit DNS** for the domain you'll send from.

The switch stays off until your branding is complete

## Add your domain

**1. Add the domain**

In the **Sending domains** card, click **Add domain**. Enter the domain, such as `yourcompany.com` or a subdomain like `training.yourcompany.com`, choose **Training notifications**, and add it.

**2. Publish the DNS records**

Click **DNS setup** on the domain's row. **Records to add** lists each record with its host and value. Use **Copy all**, or download the records as a **CSV** or **Zone file** for your DNS provider.

| Records | What they do |
| - | - |
| Three DKIM `CNAME` records | Sign the emails Cimento sends from your domain. |
| An `MX` record and an SPF `TXT` record on the `mail.` subdomain | Let receiving servers check that Cimento may send for your domain, and route bounces back to Cimento. |

You don't need to change your domain's own MX or SPF records, so replies keep going through your normal email. A DMARC record is recommended but not required.

**3. Verify the domain**

Cimento checks new domains every 15 minutes. To check straight away, click **Verify**. Once the records are found, the domain shows **Verified** and **Send authentication** shows **Ready**.

## Turn it on

**1. Switch it on**

In the **Sending domains** card, switch on **Send training and notification emails from your domain**.

**2. Set the sender**

* **Sender email** starts as `training@` your domain. If more than one domain is ready, choose one from the list.
* **Sender name** starts as **Security Training**.
* **Reply-To email** is optional. Without it, replies go to the sender address through your own email. If nobody receives mail at that address, for example on a subdomain with no mailboxes, set a Reply-To address.

![The setting switched on, with the sender email, sender name and optional Reply-To fields, an acknowledgement checkbox and a Turn on button](https://mintcdn.com/cimento/qNxsd5xdFSS3rp03/images/training/sending-domain/turn-on.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=qNxsd5xdFSS3rp03\&q=85\&s=8229cc2cae2dc0aa8011fcc1e651fbcf)

Set the sender, then acknowledge the change

**3. Acknowledge and turn on**

Select the checkbox confirming these emails will come from your address instead of `no-reply@cimento.ai`, then click **Turn on**. The setting now reads **Sending as**, followed by your sender name and address.

![The setting turned on, reading Sending as Security Training at training@example.com, with a note that 14 queued emails were updated](https://mintcdn.com/cimento/qNxsd5xdFSS3rp03/images/training/sending-domain/on.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=qNxsd5xdFSS3rp03\&q=85\&s=8356bf5ba351c3c0fc432499fd021ae5)

The setting shows who emails come from

**4. Send yourself a test**

Under **Admin → Notifications**, click **Create notification**, then use **Send me a test first**. Check that the email comes from your address and carries your branding. A test needs your own employee record.

To change the sender later, edit a field and click away, or choose another domain. Changes save straight away.

## What changes

| Topic | What happens |
| - | - |
| Emails that switch | Training campaign emails (assignment notices, reminders and overdue notices), admin updates, and notifications you send from **Admin → Notifications**. |
| Phishing | Nothing changes. Phishing simulations and their notices keep their own senders. |
| Templates with their own sender | They keep it. In the template editor, the default sender option shows your address with **(organization default)**. |
| Emails already queued | They switch too, except any being sent at that moment. After each change, the setting says how many queued emails it updated. |
| Links | Links in these emails may still use Cimento's tracking domains. |
| Footer | The Cimento footer stays. |
| Branding Hub | While this is on, your last logo and your default colors can't be removed. Turn this off first. |

## If something breaks

While the setting is on, Cimento re-checks your domain's records every 15 minutes. If a record is removed or changed, the domain fails verification. Within about 15 minutes, emails, including any already queued, go back to `no-reply@cimento.ai`, and the setting says why.

![The setting reading that example.com failed verification, so these emails send from no-reply@cimento.ai until it's fixed or you choose another domain](https://mintcdn.com/cimento/qNxsd5xdFSS3rp03/images/training/sending-domain/fallback.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=qNxsd5xdFSS3rp03\&q=85\&s=46d27a2d79fff4981f2befcad75be140)

A failed domain falls back to Cimento's address

Fix the records and click **Verify**, or choose another ready domain. Once your domain verifies again, new emails come from it again.

## Turn it off

Switch the setting off. Emails, including any already queued, come from `no-reply@cimento.ai` again. To turn it back on later, you set the sender and acknowledge the change again.
